And so the project REALLY begins. After all of the preproduction planning, permitting and research, we can finally get started by salvaging anything worth keeping in the old home. Bethesda Bungalows has been blessed to have partnered with Second Chance Inc. out of Baltimore to do the architectural salvage for all of our demo/rebuilds. Big kudos to Mark Foster and his team for always being there for us and our customers! For The Incredibly Green Home, they managed to dramatically reduce the amount of material that went into the landfill - we estimate at least two dumpters were diverted.
They took out all windows, doors, flooring, ceiling and floor joists, lighting fixtures, appliances, wiring and copper pipes.

The tax credit associated with donating the old home is often the last bit of encouragement our customers need to proceed with contracting with us for a new home. Check out their huge warehouses up in Baltimore.
